According to Axios, attorney Sean Cairncross has been chosen by the newly appointed leadership at the Republican National Committee (RNC), a decision believed to be influenced by President Donald Trump. Cairncross is set to assume a prominent role within the organization.

Per the outlet:

“Former President Trump’s new team at the Republican National Committee has tapped former RNC executive Sean Cairncross to help run the party’s operations and watch its spending in the run-up to the November election, two people familiar with the move tell Axios.”

It is probable that a significant transformation is on the horizon for the committee. Ronna Romney McDaniel was recently ousted from her position as the RNC chair.

This decision was made in response to substantial backlash regarding McDaniel’s leadership style. One of the main points of contention was McDaniel’s alleged extravagant spending. It is clear that Cairncross has been appointed to address and resolve the issues at hand.

He, according to Axios, “is a lawyer with a reputation of enforcing financial discipline — someone who can ‘watch the money.’”

It seems that Cairncross was chosen for the role by Chris LaCivita, a key figure in Trump’s circle. LaCivita currently serves as the co-manager for Trump’s upcoming 2024 presidential campaign.

Furthermore, he has been appointed as the chief operating officer of the RNC. Cairncross will report directly to LaCivita at the RNC.

Recently, the RNC made the decision to fill its vacant leadership position, following the departure of McDaniel, with individuals hand-picked by Trump. Among these selections is Michael Whatley, the leader of North Carolina’s Republican Party, who will assume the role of RNC chairman. Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Trump, has also been named as the RNC’s co-chair.

Additionally, it was revealed that LaCivita will take on the role of COO at the RNC. These developments reflect the efforts of Trump and the RNC to align their goals as they prepare for the crucial 2024 election.

The AP reported:

“The Republican National Committee voted Friday to install Donald Trump’s handpicked leadership team, completing his takeover of the national party as the former president closes in on a third straight presidential nomination.”
