(The Post Millennial) – Dr. Anthony Fauci was the subject of criticism on Sunday when he appeared on CNN, seemingly admitting to “guesstimating” some of his claims on herd immunity.
CNN’s Dana Bash pressed Fauci saying, “Why weren’t you straight with the American people about this to begin with?” She is referring to his previous statements on the percentage of vaccinated population needed to destroy the virus.

He deflects multiple times. She presses and he says it’s just a “guesstimate." pic.twitter.com/kquQvlwZ8j

When fifty percent of Americans were willing to be vaccinated, the required percentage for herd immunity was claimed to be seventy percent. This is according to Fauci. When sixty percent of Americans were willing to be vaccinated however, Dr. Fauci seemingly moved the goal post and suggested around eighty percent was required to achieve herd immunity.
Fauci insisted this was an estimation based on his analysis of Measles, which is more contagious the COVID-19. He continues to assert he did not in fact move the goal post and that Americans should be vaccinated as soon as possible.
