(The Post Millennial) – After being ‘cancelled’ by the tech giant, Antonio Garciá Martínez has finally broken his silence.

On Friday, Martínez was fired “due to protests on the part of some Apple employees, to the point where they started a petition asking that his hiring be investigated.” Having worked at Facebook as a project manager for the ad-marketing team, he was hired by Apple to work on ad privacy.

Employees cited “García Marquez’s purported views on women and on people of color”, as well as the views expressed in his controversial book, Chaos Monkeys.

It was reported that a petition signed by many triggered Apple employees claims that the hiring of Garcí Martínez “calls into question parts of our system of inclusion at Apple, including hiring panels, background checks, and our process to ensure our existing culture of inclusion is strong enough to withstand individuals who don’t share our inclusive values.”

In a series of Tweets, García Martínez spoke out about his termination at Apple.

He began by saying that he has remained silence in order to “settle things amicably” with Apple, but that since they have not maintained their silence, he won’t either.

García Martínez pointed out that Apple had actively recruited him.

He then went on to say that he “upended [his] life for Apple”, and even “sold [his] WA residence which [he] built with [his] own hands.” García Martínez stated that “Apple was well aware of [his] writing before hiring [him].

He alleged that Apple has issued a statement “implies there was some negative behaviour by [him]” during his time there, calling such actions “defamatory and categorically false.”

Author and podcaster Matt Taibbi wrote an article on Substack about those at Apple who got García Martínez fired. “These people aren’t idealists”, he said. “They’re just ordinary greedy Americans trying to get ahead, using the tactics available to them, and it’s time to stop thinking of stories like this through any other lens.”
