Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, expressed his belief that President Joe Biden poses a greater risk to democracy compared to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Kennedy argues that Biden’s censorship of political opponents is a significant factor contributing to this concern.

“I can make the argument that President Biden is the much worse threat to democracy, and the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate in history, the first president in history, that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech … to censor his opponent,” Kennedy said in an interview with CNN.

“I can say that because I just won a case in the federal court of appeals and now before that Supreme Court that shows that he started censoring,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy stated that President Biden has utilized his presidential authority to combat his adversaries in the political arena.

Biden “has used the federal agencies to censor political speech,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy referred to a case before the “Supreme Court that could affect the level of contact between government officials and social media companies regarding content removal,” NBC News reported.

“A majority of Supreme Court justices appeared to be wary of arguments that the Biden administration was unlawfully telling social media platforms to take down problematic conduct,” per the outlet.

Kennedy has employed social media platforms to disseminate false information pertaining to vaccines and COVID-19. According to NBC News, the Children’s Health Defense organization, which is headed by Kennedy and opposes vaccinations, was removed from Instagram and Facebook in 2022 due to its propagation of misleading content regarding vaccines and COVID. Following Kennedy’s interview with CNN, the Democratic National Committee expressed its clear disapproval of Kennedy’s position without any ambiguity.

“With a straight face Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that Joe Biden is a bigger threat to democracy than Donald Trump because he was barred from pushing conspiracy theories online,” DNC senior adviser Mary Beth Cahill said. “There is no comparison to summoning a mob to the Capitol and promising to be a dictator on day one.”

“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. laid to rest tonight any doubts that he’s a spoiler candidate by pushing his MAGA talking points in prime time,” she said.

According to NBC News, there is speculation that Kennedy’s participation in the election might result in a shift of votes from Biden to Trump.
