(SNews) – Major Hollywood movie studio Lionsgate has brought back a mask mandate for nearly half of the company’s employees at its main office.
The mask mandate is being enforced at Lionsgate’s office at 2700 Colorado Ave. in Santa Monica.
The change was announced by Lionsgate/Starz Response Manager Sommer McElroy in an email to employees.
The email said: “Employees must wear a medical grade face covering (surgical mask, KN95 or N95) when indoors except when alone in an office with the door closed, actively eating, actively drinking at their desk or workstation, or if they are the only individual present in a large open workspace.”
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recently said “small increases in COVID-19 indicators over the past four weeks indicating increased transmission but overall metrics remain at a low level of concern.”
Every Lionsgate employee also is required to perform a self-screening before arriving at work every day.

Fox News contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier said:
“The reason you have an uptick in cases right now is not because you did something wrong, it’s because for the last several years, we’ve seen an uptick in cases in the winter, and we also see one in the end of summer.
“This is just a normal cycle of this respiratory virus.”
A Georgia college also brought back the mask mandate this week.
