In light of the Supreme Court’s ruling granting extensive criminal protections to former President Donald Trump, federal prosecutors and Trump’s legal representatives gathered in court on Thursday to discuss the subsequent actions in the case, which accuses Trump of attempting to manipulate the 2020 election results.

During a session at the Federal District Court in Washington, Judge Tanya Chutkan presided over the proceedings, where she listened to arguments presented by Mr. Trump’s attorneys and prosecutors from the special counsel’s office, led by Jack Smith. The focus of the discussion was on how to effectively navigate the complex issue of determining which charges in the indictment should be dismissed in light of the immunity ruling and which charges should proceed to trial.

“A new trial date would be a pointless endeavor, according to Judge Chutkan, because of the immunity issue. It will be appealed all the way back to the Supreme Court, regardless of her decision,” the New York Times reported.

In a segment on CNN, host Wolf Blitzer engaged in a conversation with network legal analyst Elie Honig regarding the significant development and its potential implications for the future.
