Authorities have disclosed that the steps leading to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. have fallen victim to an act of vandalism, as they have been defaced with red paint and pro-Hamas graffiti. The National Park Service is currently undertaking efforts to eradicate the red paint and the words “Free Gaza,” which were found in various locations within the vicinity on Wednesday morning.

“Vandalism was discovered in the area of Lincoln Memorial Circle and the Reflecting Pool,” the United States Park Police said in a statement.

“National Park Service conservators have begun the process of removing the paint this morning, though it may take multiple treatments over several days to remove all of it,” Park Police added.

“The steps on the west side of the Reflecting Pool are closed to visitors while the conservation work takes place.”

Local media sources documented the scene as workers diligently cleansed and scrubbed away the crimson paint.

The individual or group responsible for the incident remains unclear at this time. If you have any information regarding this matter, it is strongly encouraged that you reach out to the United States Park Police, as reported by Fox5 DC. Over the past few months, there have been numerous pro-Hamas protests taking place in Washington, D.C. following the surprise assault by the terrorist group on Israel. On Tuesday, a group of anti-Israel protesters staged an illegal rally inside the Capitol Rotunda and were subsequently arrested.

Reports indicate that activist Linda Sarsour led this act. Additionally, a protest calling for a “ceasefire” resulted in over 40 arrests at the Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill. The pro-Hamas demonstrators were unlawfully protesting within the Congressional space, according to authorities.

During this incident, one individual even climbed a statue in the atrium before being charged with resisting arrest. In November, as pro-Hamas demonstrators grew violent, police responded to the Democratic National Committee headquarters. Initially calling for an immediate ceasefire, leftist protesters eventually began demanding the elimination of Israel. Approximately 150 individuals were “illegally and violently protesting” near the DNC headquarters, resulting in arrests and injuries to six officers.

These injuries ranged from minor cuts and pepper spray burns to being punched by protesters who turned violent alongside peaceful protesters. A Democratic congressman who was present during the riot later admitted that it was more frightening to him than the events of January 6th.
