Radical Democrat Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is now facing potential disbarment as a formal complaint has been lodged with the State Bar of Michigan. Known for her strong anti-Israel stance and repeated anti-Semitic statements, Tlaib’s conduct has come under scrutiny. The complaint, filed by the conservative Coolidge-Reagan Foundation, calls for an investigation into Tlaib’s actions, citing her discriminatory and false comments regarding the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians in October 2023.

The Foundation’s complaint highlights Tlaib’s statements embracing the violent destruction of Israel, supporting genocide against Israelis, and making false accusations of genocide against President Joe Biden and the Israeli government. The complaint argues that Tlaib’s actions violate the Michigan Court Rules and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, urging the State Bar of Michigan to initiate an investigation and impose appropriate sanctions.

This move follows Tlaib’s formal censure by a bipartisan majority of her colleagues in the House on November 7, where 234 members voted in favor, including 22 Democrats. The censure resolution admonished Tlaib for promoting false narratives about Israel, justifying Hamas’s attacks, and making unfounded accusations of genocide and war crimes against Israel and the United States.

The complaint against Representative Rashida Tlaib also references her repeated use of the well-known anti-Semitic slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which advocates for the complete destruction of Israel. It further provides documented evidence of Tlaib’s defense of the October 7 HANNAT attacks as justifiable “acts of resistance” against Israel’s alleged “apartheid system.” The filing highlights her promotion of false accusations regarding Israel’s responsibility for an explosion near a Gaza hospital, later revealed to be caused by a misfired Palestinian rocket.

The complaint details Tlaib’s multiple false claims that Israel, with support from President Joe Biden and the U.S. government, was “deliberately and indiscriminately slaughtering” civilians, engaging in a “massacre of civilians,” and pursuing “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” against the Palestinian people. The Coolidge-Reagan Foundation asserts that these documented actions and statements by Rep. Tlaib likely violate Michigan Court Rules and the Bar’s standards of professional conduct.

“Michigan-licensed attorneys — particularly those with large national and even global platforms — cannot recklessly lie about foreign bombings, accuse foreign nations of engaging in ethnic cleansing, or declare the President of the United States, foreign leaders, or Members of Congress are supporting genocide or other war crimes,” the complaint stated in conclusion.

“Nor can they be permitted to use antisemitic slogans from Foreign Terrorist Organizations that call for the literal genocide of Israelis and the destruction of Israel,” it continued.

“Such conduct is wholly unprofessional and reflects horribly on the Michigan legal community of which Attorney Tlaib is a part.

“Attorney Tlaib’s public statements have shown a complete disregard for the truth and serve only to enflame anti-Semitic hatred rather than promote the ends of justice.”

“For these reasons, the Coolidge-Reagan Foundation respectfully requests you open an investigation into Attorney Tlaib and pursue appropriate sanctions against her for her repeated false statements, anti-Semitic comments, and spread of foreign terrorist propaganda,” the complaint added.
