(Big League Politics) – Facebook’s interpretation of their decision to suspend Donald Trump is evidently quite liberal (pun intended). They won’t even allow certain people to post videos that include his voice whatsoever.
Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, posted an Instagram photo on Tuesday evening that teased an interview she conducted with him:
This prompted Facebook to then warn her in an email to not post the video. An employee by the name of Katelyn (last name unknown) emailed Lara’s team with the following message: “Hi folks, I saw on Lara Trump’s Instagram account that she will be hosting an interview with President Trump tonight. Just a reminder that content posted on Facebook and Instagram in the voice of President Trump is not currently allowed on our platforms (including new posts with President Trump speaking) and will be removed if posted, resulting in additional limitations on accounts that posted it.
“This guidance applies to all campaign accounts and Pages, including Team Trump, other campaign messaging vehicles on our platforms, and former surrogates.”
In a follow-up email after Lara uploaded her interview to Facebook, the same Katelyn confirmed to her that Facebook removed the video:
“Hi folks, We are reaching out to let you know that we removed content from Lara Trump’s Facebook page that featured President Trump speaking. In line with the block we placed on Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, further content posted in the voice of Donald Trump will be removed and result in additional limitations on the accounts.”
Lara screenshotted both emails and posted them to Instagram with the caption, “…and just like that, we are one step closer to Orwell’s 1984. Wow.”
Donald Trump, however, recently announced the launch of an official website titled “The Office of Donald J. Trump” in order to maintain some sort of online presence and connection with supporters.
A mission statement on the homepage reads as follows: “The Office of Donald J. Trump is committed to preserving the magnificent legacy of the Trump Administration, while at the same time advancing the America First agenda. Through civic engagement and public activism, the Office of Donald J. Trump will strive to inform, educate, and inspire Americans from all walks of life as we seek to build a truly great American Future. Through this office, President Trump will remain a tireless champion for the hardworking men and women of our great country—and for their right to live in safety, dignity, prosperity, and peace.”
