(Big League Politics) – New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is vowing to use the New York City Police Department as a social engineering force, instructing uniformed officers to “confront” people who supposedly engage in “hurtful” behavior.

De Blasio urged that NYPD officers should engage in legally questionable “confrontations” of people accused of vague behavior. De Blasio suggested the action in response to questions about policing plans following a surge in violence targeting Asians in New York City and across the country.

“Even if something is not a criminal case, a perpetrator being confronted by the city, whether it’s NYPD or another agency, and being told that what they’ve done was very hurtful to another person — and could, if ever repeated, lead to criminal charges — that’s another important piece of the puzzle,” said de Blasio to reporters in a Thursday press conference. The incidents of violence targeting Asians are already criminal offenses, and it’s unclear how De Blasio imagines UK-style social engineering on the part of police actually accomplishing anything.

“I assure you, if an NYPD officer calls you or shows up at your door to ask you about something you did, it makes people think twice,” De Blasio said of the bizarre plan. “We need that.”

America’s megacities, such as New York and Chicago, have increasingly become unmanageable entities afflicted with anarcho-tyranny. As De Blasio moves to sick the police on people who make politically incorrect comments, the city is suffering from an increase in murders and violence unseen since the 1990’s. New York City has also suffered from the worst outbreak of the coronavirus in the entire world.

“If someone has done something wrong, but not rising to a criminal level, it’s perfectly appropriate for an NYPD officer to talk to them to say, ‘that was not appropriate, and if you did that on a higher level, that would be a crime,” said the Mayor.

The Stasi police tactics, if they’re implemented, are bound to be abused.
