(The Post Millennial) – The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) voted 3-3 to drop complaints surrounding former President Trump and allegations that members of the Trump campaign solicited foreign election interference in the 2016 Presidential election, allegations that were often referred to as a ‘witch hunt’ by former President Trump.
This report comes as the FEC previously dropped several other allegations against the former President; including Trump’s alleged hush-money payment to famed porn star Stormy Daniels, Axios reported.
The Federal Elections Commission decided to cease all investigations into the 2016 meeting between two Russian nationals and members of the Trump campaign at Trump Tower, better known as the ‘Russian Collusion’ scandal.
The FEC was investigating alleged campaign finance violations that took place during the meeting, but after years of investigations and a failed Mueller report, the FEC is walking away. According to Axios, the Federal Elections Commission is expected to drop several other back-logged complaints related to the 2016 campaign enforcing little to no action.
The complaint under investigation alleged that members of former President Trump’s campaign staff, including his son Donald Trump Jr, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and campaign chair Paul Manafort illegally solicited finances from the two Russian nationals at Trump Tower in exchange for dirt on Hillary Clinton.
All parties involved denied the allegations. According to Axios, the rest of the allegations against the Trump campaign that are under review by the FEC include: Trump hush-money payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, allegations that Trump illegally endorsed a super PAC, the Trump campaigns alleged investigations into Hillary Clinton’s emails, and claims that the DNC solicited foreign assistance from Ukraine.
