(Big League Politics) – Former president Donald Trump is preparing to vet and assist candidates looking to primary Republican governors and members of Congress who have disavowed or clashed with him since Election Day and the January 6 Capitol fracas.

Politico broke the story Saturday morning, saying that Trump will formally vet hopeful candidates at Mar-a-Lago beginning sometime in March. The outlet claims, according to three sources, that Trump has already received “dozens of requests” from people who want to primary anti-Trump Republicans in the 2022 midterms.

“We are in the process of putting together a more formal schedule for candidates who want to come get his endorsement,” Politico quoted senior Trump adviser Jason Miller as saying.

As of now, Trump’s meetings at Mar-a-Lago have been limited to golf friends, club members, and people who know him personally. According to someone close to Trump, he has become “unreachable” to many outside his inner circle. But it sounds like that will only be temporary as he gears up to jump back into the fray.

This news comes as no surprise. In a February 16 statement, Trump said that “where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”

“We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership,” he added.

In addition to his return to the political arena, Trump is also preparing to rebuild his social media presence after being banned from Twitter and Facebook in January. He made it clear in a Newsmax TV interview with Greg Kelly that he has no desire to try returning to Big Tech social media platforms, but he does worry that social media alternatives like Parler and Gab, which have had their varying degrees of struggles, will not be able to handle the skyrocketing traffic if he created an account.

The @realDonaldTrump Twitter account has been permanently suspended, and while Facebook has since reinstated Trump’s page, he is evidently blocked from making any posts.
