(Big League Politics) – Two academics argued in DefenseOne last week for a government takeover of social media to institute total censorship of dissident beliefs, seizing upon the mostly-peaceful protests in Jan. 6 to push this heinously unconstitutional power grab.
“Even though the companies that run these platforms are displaying a new willingness to police them, up to and including banning the worst offenders, claims that U.S. tech companies can self-regulate and moderate dangerous content comprehensively should be regarded with extreme skepticism,” wrote authors Divya Ramjee and Elsa Kania.
While many people on the Right have called for the revocation of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act in order to combat the problem of tech censorship, these women are demanding more government regulations to compel additional censorship.
“New rules must be introduced for the algorithms that decide what users see and for the data these companies collect for themselves, as well as data scraping by third parties,” they wrote, calling for absolute thought control imposed on Big Tech by the federal government.
They did call legislators to “introduce federal laws that protect sensitive data and personal information of consumers and dictate how it is used and aggregated by companies” but want pro-privacy reforms to be accompanied by a national takeover and additional censorship. Ramjee and Kania said that the U.S. should emulate China and the European Union to crackdown on digital free speech.
“By contrast, technology assessments and consumer impact assessments are supported in the European Union’s regulations, and China’s policymaking leverages a major brain trust and various expert groups in approaching the governance of emerging technologies,” the authors wrote.
“Too often, a false dichotomy has been presented or perceived to exist between the Internet as entirely ungoverned, relative to the “sovereign Internet” and “cyber sovereignty,” such as China and Russia have respectively promoted, which leverage frequent censorship and propaganda. Certainly, recent events have demonstrated that a status quo that eschews regulation or legislation is unsustainable,” they continued.

Big League Politics has reported on the push to ramp up censorship and other repressive measures in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 brouhaha:
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) announced on Wednesday that he will vote against certifying electoral votes next week, joining a group of House Republicans who are planning to oppose the federal rubber-stamping of grotesque and unprecedented fraud.
“Following both the 2004 and 2016 elections, Democrats in Congress objected during the certification of electoral votes in order to raise concerns about election integrity,” Hawley explained in a statement.
“They were praised by Democratic leadership and the media when they did. And they were entitled to do so. But now those of us concerned about the integrity of this election are entitled to do the same,” he added.
Hawley is refusing to go along with the Big Lie that there was no serious and systemic election fraud that occurred in last month’s presidential election.
“I cannot vote to certify the electoral college results on January 6 without raising the fact that some states, particularly Pennsylvania, failed to follow their own state election laws. And I cannot vote to certify without pointing out the unprecedented effort of mega corporations, including Facebook and Twitter, to interfere in this election, in support of Joe Biden,” Hawley said.
“At the very least, I will follow the same practice Democrat members of Congress have in years past and object during the certification process on January 6 to raise these critical issues,” he added.
The globalist elite are now openly waging war against the Bill of Rights and Constitution. Patriots are under siege as the former land of the free morphs into a totalitarian police state.
