(The Post Millennial) – The Broward County Supervisor of Elections has found at least 50 new voter applications recently set to them were for people who in actuality are recently deceased.

Steven Vancore, a spokesperson for the Supervisor of Elections, confirms that there is an ongoing investigation into the matter:

“Fortunately the system we have in place works, the improper registrations were flagged in a timely manner and the information was turned over to law enforcement for prosecution. We are also pleased to inform you that there was no attempt by this person or persons to cast a ballot.”

According to Fox News, the investigation into the scheme began during the summer months, and continues to this day, with so far 19 different envelopes full of fraudulent new voter registrations being flagged, and 30 of the 51 suspicious registrations having been verified as belonging to people who have recently passed on. Five other names had already been previously registered.

Vancore assured the media that the authorities had been notified in due course, and the source of the fake voter registrations is being tracked by them.

The past several months have seen many incidents like this one, often involving mail carriers themselves and the institutions for which they work. In some cases, the errors are committed by the election boards themselves.

Broward County is the second most populous county in Florida, after Miami-Dade county. Florida is considered to be a very important swing state in the upcoming elections.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, the Florida State Attorney’s office declined to comment at this time.
