House Speaker Nancy Pelosi provided a robust response to CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday when he referenced former President Donald Trump’s recent remarks regarding Vice President Kamala Harris. Earlier that day, during a rally in Savannah, Georgia, Trump claimed that Harris has “bigger cognitive problems” than President Joe Biden, further escalating his critique of the Biden-Harris administration.

At the rally, Trump also condemned the administration’s handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, pointing to the fatalities of 13 servicemembers and the military equipment that was abandoned. Nevertheless, his comments about Harris garnered the most media attention.

Trump asserted that Harris is experiencing more significant cognitive difficulties than Biden, who had previously faced questions about his mental acuity before suspending his 2024 campaign following their late June debate on CNN. In her interview with Tapper, Pelosi reacted to Trump’s statements as he read them aloud, but she expressed her discontent with the nature of the inquiry.

“Why would you even cover that?! This is a person who’s not on the level,” Pelosi snapped, appearing to struggle to speak herself. “He is their nominee for President. He is incompetent. Let’s not even talk about the silliness of it all. And the weirdness of it all. And the assault on women that it is. We’re not gonna talk issues.”
