Jessica Tarlov, the singular liberal co-host on Fox News’ widely-watched “The Five,” attempted to draw parallels between former President Donald Trump’s cognitive abilities and those of President Joe Biden in a segment on Wednesday.

The discussion revolved around an Axios report revealing significant adjustments made at the White House to assist President Joe Biden in avoiding stumbles, such as opting for sneakers over dress shoes and utilizing a shorter set of stairs for Air Force One boarding. The report also mentioned that Biden has been undergoing physical therapy since late 2021.

Tarlov responded by listing recent mistakes made by Trump in the past 10 days, including a statement where he “said you need an ID to buy bread. Has anyone shown ID to get Wonderbread lately?”

“He said that he ran against Obama in 2016. He ran against Hillary Clinton,” Tarlov continued. “He warned that Biden would get us into World War II, which I’m pretty sure we already fought and won. And yesterday, he confused Jeb Bush and George W. Bush and said Jeb got us involved in the Middle East.”

Tarlov proceeded to criticize what she characterized as Trump’s “authoritarian messages” on his Truth Social platform.

She highlighted Trump’s insinuation that the departing Joint Chiefs chairman and Army Gen. Mark Milley committed treason by communicating with the Chinese during the turbulent post-2020 election period. Additionally, she mentioned his threat to investigate Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, NBC News, and MSNBC, if he were to regain the presidency.

“Can you imagine if Biden said, ‘You know what, I’m going to look into that Fox News? They don’t seem to like me over there,’” asked Tarlov.

“This may be the choice that people have. Trump versus Biden laid bare here,” co-host Martha MacCallum responded.

“At least Trump can say ‘LL Cool J,’” said Jesse Watters.

President Joe Biden’s approval ratings are experiencing a sharp decline, according to recent polls. In early November, New York Times/Siena College polls showed former President Trump leading in four of the six swing states. Biden’s lead over Trump in head-to-head matchups has diminished, with most recent polls conducted this month indicating a decline in Biden’s standing compared to earlier surveys.

Despite an initial advantage, Biden’s support is dwindling, and Trump is gaining momentum, especially as voters appear to be shifting from Biden to Trump. Recent national polls suggest that Trump now holds a larger share of the vote compared to any time in the past year. State-level data is also noteworthy, with polls showing Trump leading by significant margins in Arizona and Michigan.

Several factors contribute to Biden’s declining support, including the emergence of independent and third-party candidates, the Middle East conflict, and Biden’s recent political challenges nearly 11 months before Election Day. A surprising NBC News poll this week indicated that Trump is leading among voters under 35, showcasing a potential shift in traditional Democratic constituencies.

Biden’s approval ratings are reaching new lows, with polls from Quinnipiac University, Fox News, and Morning Consult showing his leads among voters aged 18 to 34 in the single digits. While there are exceptions indicating Biden’s lead among young voters, these instances are not the norm. Biden’s approval rating has dropped to 38%, the lowest since July 2022, while Trump’s popularity is on the rise.

In head-to-head comparisons, Trump’s average has ranged between 42 and 46 percent over the past year. This month, Trump surpassed 46 percent and even reached 47 percent, matching his vote share from the 2020 election. Polls tracking undecided voters also indicate Trump’s increasing popularity, with one Fox News poll showing him leading Biden by a narrow margin of 50% to 46%.
